Field to Feast: Recipes Celebrating Florida Farmers, Chefs, and Artisans.  Authors Pam Brandon, Katie Farmand, and Heather McPherson have created a celebration of Florida food and cooking. Heather is the Food Editor and restaurant reviewer of the Orlando Sentinel.  Pam and Katie are both editors with Edible Orlando, a local publication, which featured the Lake Apopka Quilts in the Fall 2011 edition of the magazine;

Below is the caption which accompanied a lovely photo of one of the quilts:

“STORIES OF STRUGGLE, SQUARE BY SQUARE

WHEN FARMING AROUND LAKE APOPKA CEASED in the late '90s in an attempt to restore the polluted lake, an estimated 2,500 farm workers lost their jobs. With the help of the Farmworker Association of Florida, those workers continue to fight for medical care for the many issues they face from years of on-the-job pesticide exposure.

The Lake Apopka Farmworker Memorial Quilt was designed in order to honor and recognize the workers who have passed away and to bring awareness to the cause. Visit www.apopkaquiltproject.blogspot.com to learn how you can help.”

And now they are donating a share of the proceeds from their 10/18/12 book signing in at Winter Park Farmers Market.

 A BIG THANKS to Pam, Katie and Heather!!!
