A Lake Apopka Toxic Tour by the Farmworker Association of Florida with students from Bridgewater College (CT) and Rollins College (Winter Park, FL) students in the Bonners and Alphonse Programs participating in an immersion program with Hope CommUnity Center this past Wednesday, January 9.

Led by FWAF staff, the group of 32 students visited the former farmlands and stopped at Magnolia Park to see the condition of Florida's most polluted large lake.  Sr. Ann Kendrick spoke of the stories of the farmworkers who were affected by the closing of the farms in 1998.  The tour included the medical waste incinerator, landfills and other environmental injustices.
